Joseph Washbourn releases emotive and orchestral single, Silver Screen

Setting the tone with luscious piano and bells, Joseph Washbourn opens Silver Screen with a personal narrative and poetic prowess as he sings, “Everybody has a dream, and as a young boy stares at his father’s TV, says ‘when I grow up that’s what I wanna be’… so when he’s old enough, up and heads to the big city…”

The opus expands into a theatrical, alternative folk energy, and we are mesmerised. We learn from Joseph that the composition is designed with the intention to “transport you into strange tales of people’s lives in places you’d never heard of.”

We appreciate the trip and the authenticity that Joseph Washbourn shares with his voice and story. Her confesses, “I remember as a kid sitting on my parents old three piece suite with a sense of wonder listening to tracks like ‘Wichita Lineman’ and ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’. They would transport you into strange tales of people’s lives in places you’d never heard of.”

He adds passionately, “The instrumentation was not just guitar, bass and drums but this beautiful palette of soaring strings, woodwind and brass and it all added such magic and gravity to these sad stories. I wanted to recreate that with a cautionary tale of broken dreams and the dramatic repercussions of one man’s impossible pursuit of stardom upon Hollywood’s ‘Silver Screen’.”

The charisma that Joseph Washbourn performs with is tangible, and we love the dimensional build of the track, showcasing his epic range, an orchestral energy and and awe-inspiring tale which would be perfect for a come-up movie set in the 70s or 80s. The harmonies are divine, and the celestial nuances that the composition holds are exquisite.

We have added Silver Screen to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we anticipate future releases from Joseph Washbourn.
