Enigmatic artist Urban Walrus releases dynamic and profound new single, August Rain

Setting the tone with crisp percussion, and a timeless yet nostalgic guitar melody with elegant keys, Urban Walrus opens his new single, August Rain with an emotive performance as he sings, “Somewhere I found you, in the back of my mind, hitting in between time and space, lost in a maze…”

The opus expands into a meaningful and introspective soft rock meets indie pop hybrid soundscape; and we are mesmerized. We appreciate the depth of the message and Urban Walrus‘s poetic prowess. Speaking on the meaning of August Rain, the talented star from Zurich confesses, “The song tells about the finitude of being, sudden changes in Life, unexpected twists and turns and strokes of fate. [It’s] about the helplessness in the face of our own transience.”

It’s always refreshing to encounter an artist so willing to share their philosophies and vulnerabilities, and Urban Walrus does just that! Although dubbed a band, Urban Walrus is the brainchild of Swiss-born multi-instrumentalist, Singer and songwriter Fabian Koerber.

He self-describes as “boring” and a “lazy creature that loves to keep a low profile and hardly ever appears on social media”, and prefers us to allow the music to speak for itself.

We love the authenticity of Urban Walrus and have added the not-so-boring, and actually-quite-dynamic August Rain to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream his wider discography including Pie in the Sky.
