Gary Sutcliffe teams up with Shooshi on evocative new single, Journey To the Moon

Setting the tone with electric guitar and saxophone, Gary Sutcliffe opens Journey To the Moon, his collaborative single with Shooshi, with a charismatic energy and the metaphorical and thought-provoking lyrics, “I know the man on the moon is not for real, but I’m not so sure about you… You wanna get high, take me to the moon, but I haven’t seen your rocket…”

We love the soundscape that Gary Sutcliffe has created, and we are in awe of the charming prowess that Shooshi exudes as she delivers atmospheric vocals.

The opus is a trip through the universe, as well as the artist’s mind and consciousness, and we learn that Journey To the Moon was written by Gary in a shared house in Brisbane. He confesses, “everyone around me [was] looking for their path in life.”

Self-describing the composition as “melancholic neo mellow, almost neo soul”, the composer references Norah Jones or Joss Stone as similar vibes, although it is clear that Gary Sutcliffe and Shooshi are creating an identity of their own.

We appreciate the depth and authenticity of the collaborative effort, and have added Journey To the Moon to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Gary Sutcliffe‘s wider discography and anticipate further releases from Shooshi!
