We recently featured Chris Todisco‘s evocative cover of How Many Licks?, originally performed by Lil’ Kim and Sisqo, so when we saw that the rising star from New York had just released a brand new music video for X-Rated, we couldn’t wait to experience it!
Needless to say, the creative output from the driven and conscious New Yorker is exquisite. High production value visuals directed by the mysterious Caleb aka xoadonis, a dynamic cast, incredible styling, choreography to live for and a beat that could sit effortlessly on Britney Spears‘ Blackout. We stan.
The opus opens with a pulsating bassline and bright bells with cerebral vocals samples before we hear Chris Todisco‘s unforgettable, androgynous vocal fry, seducing the audience. We appreciate the dimensionality of the vocal design and the subversive visuals which are rarely seen on mainstream TV in such a gender expansive way.
Speaking on the release, Chris confesses, “I am so excited to finally be able to share this project with all of you! I can honestly say I’ve worked really hard my entire life to be able to manifest this moment and I’m so happy the time has finally come to share my art.
