Setting the tone with cerebral electronica and a dimensional bassline, Chris Ianuzzi opens Lonesome Highway Superstar with a divergent and avant-garde energy.
The opus expands into a pop-punk, experimental design and we are hypnotized. We experience atmospheric vocals as the artist exclaims the name of the composition and delivers poetic nuance and assertive lyricism. We are in awe of the sound design which holds a cinematic edge, perfect for blockbuster synch deals.
Speaking on the release of Lonesome Highway Superstar, Chris confesses, “It’s a journey on the course that life is making. Starts in a dream state. There’s a loneliness and longing. It’s shows a positive step forward when the chorus comes. In the middle section, it becomes clear that there is a longing for a person.”
The talented self-referential artist elaborates, “This song was based on a piece that I had called Dreamer. You can hear me saying [this] throughout this song. I went into change mode, kept certain things and made new things to make the song what it is now. There is also lyrical references to a song called Glides On on Avalanche, the first album of my I, Synthesist project.”
Lonesome Highway Superstar comes with an epic, artificial intelligence created visual which takes us on the subversive journey intended by the composer, through cosmic landscapes and industrial dystopias. We learn that the music video was created in collaboration with Ethem Serkan Sökmen, and İlke Köse using Disco Diffusion and Stable Diffusion AI image generation tools and techniques.
Chris Ianuzzi is passionate about his niche avant-garde sound and tells us that his compositions are “intended for the serious listener.” This is where the dimensionality of his work comes into play, laced with intricate detail. Fans of Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross, Aphex Twin, Amon Tobin, Oneohtrix Point Never, Gary Numan, or John Carpenter would be able to connect with Lonesome Highway Superstar, although it is clear that Chris Ianuzzi is creating a universe of his own.
