We recently featured Joshua Ketchmark for his powerful and emotive single, Tazewell County Line, so when we heard that he had just released Death Trap, we couldn’t wait to experience it.
Drawing us in with a guitar soundscape and poetic nuance, Joshua Ketchmark opens Death Trap with descriptive and situational lyricism as he sings, “There’s a cold wind blowing through town tonight, a hungry stray looking for a warm place to hide…”
The composition expands with the intricate narrative-driven storytelling that we have come to love from Joshua Ketchmark, along with exceptional instrumentation and a soundscape that tugs at our heartstrings.
Death Trap is the third single from Joshua Ketchmark‘s tenth studio album, BLOOD, which is out now. Described by the creator as “a song to be listened to and felt”, Joshua sings, “Give it all you’ve got, try and take me apart…” emotively during the chorus, and we are in awe.
We learn that Death Trap is a song about “overcoming obstacles, following your dreams, and never giving up no matter the odds.”
The opus comes with an evocative visual featuring a passionate performance from Joshua Ketchmark as he showcases his emotions and guitar skills.
All of the music and lyrics on BLOOD are composed, produced, engineered and mixed by Ketchmark, with C.C. Wyle adding vocal pads, Zak. St. John (Black Star Riders/Stevie Wonder) adding percussion, and Nick Nguyen playing the cello (Bonepony).
We love the authenticity that Joshua Ketchmark shares with his artistry, and have added Death Trap to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream BLOOD and Joshua Ketchmark‘s extensive discography!
