Anne Bennett releases evocative and powerful new single, Snake In Paradise

We recently featured Anne Bennett for her assertive and self-realized single, Fabulous Creative, so when we heard that the visionary artist had just released the brand new single, Snake In Paradise, we couldn’t wait to experience it!

Establishing the mood with a dimensional bassline and cosmic frequency fused with pulsating drums, Anne Bennett opens Snake In Paradise with the observational lyrics, “You think you are so smart and clever, I say so why and whatever… You really have no clue what I think about you, all you do is making me shiver…

The composition expands into a cinematic, alternative pop meets soft rock energy laced with emotional depth, poetic prowess and charisma from the rising star.

Based out of Salem, Anne Bennett tells us that the opus is about “a scorned lover who realizes her love was just a narcissist in disguise.” She references “a mix between Lana Del Rey and Cowboy Junkies” as her references but there is no doubt that what Anne Bennett is creating is unique to her own design.

Speaking on the creative process, Anne confesses, “Snake in Paradise was recorded in my attic studio in my historic home in old New England. Rory Carlille, a producer based out of the UK, produced and mixed the track, and the lyrics were written by songwriters Charlotte Kvalvik and Peter Bladh.”

Anne continues, “I was very much inspired by Lana Del Rey, but with a 90’s goth feel. I was inspired to use this song as my own because I just had a horrible friendship breakup. This person had been my best friend for years, and they hurt me so badly with their complete narcissistic tendencies. I almost ended up in a mental institution over it. Singing and recording this track helped set me free.”

She concludes with depth and intention, “The song is about a breakup with a best friend, but it could be about a breakup with any type of narcissistic prick. I was in so much emotional turmoil over this loss, the only thing I could do was offer up my pain to the song.”

We are grateful for the team that collaborated to bring Snake in Paradise to life, and have added the song to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Anne Bennett‘s wider discography.
