The Starkillers return with expansive and metaphorical sophomore single, Close To The End

We recently featured The Starkillers for their powerful and profound debut single, Are You Thinking Of Me, so when we heard that they had just released the brand new, Close To The End, on the aligned date of 11/11 no less, we couldn’t wait to experience it!

Drawing us in with luscious electric guitar, a dimensional bassline and drums, The Starkillers open Close To The End with an evocative scenario and situational lyrics as they sing, “I became aware of the sirens way too late, and all the cars were piled up on the interstate…”

We learn that Close To The End is the title track from the band’s upcoming album, and a sign of things to come! In terms of narrative, the song is about “that feeling in a relationship where you are still working to keep it from driving off the cliff, but see the cliff’s edge coming closer and closer.”

The band add, “[It’s] that feeling of the end being right around the corner, and starting to notice all the small things that are leading to it. Noticing, looking back, that the relationship was doomed from the start.” We love the metaphorical universe that The Starkillers create with their poetic prowess, and deeply appreciate the journey that they take us on with Close To The End.

Speaking on their artistry and identity, The Starkillers confess, “Our band came back from the future to bring epic music to the masses. We’re clad in cyber-tech and futuristic wares, that weave music and image with neon lights and intense riffs.”

The rising foursome from Utah confirm that the album itself goes through “the cycle of a toxic relationship, and all of the stages you’d find yourself going through.”

Close To The End is full of memorable moments, sonically and lyrically, and philosophically, and that is what we love The Starkillers for, unparalleled depth and authenticity.

We have added Close To The End to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Are You Thinking Of Me?, and await their debut album!
