New Climate Education Podcast: Youth Activists Monitor the World’s Race to Net Zero

Study indicates 98% of youth are concerned about climate change and 82% don’t know how nations are tackling the crisis.

As leaders begin the 2022 UN Climate Change Conference in Egypt (COP27), Planet Classroom and the Protect our Planet Movement have launched a new podcast series in which climate activists report on countries’ progress in achieving their Net Zero pledges.

Young people will live with the consequences of climate change. In a survey of youths aged 15 to 24 by Plan International, nearly all — 98% — were concerned about climate change, and almost three-quarters — 74% — felt very or extremely worried. An overwhelming majority — 82% — don’t know how nations are tackling the crisis.

In the first episode of the new Net Zero podcast series, climate activists Nahid Perez Ayala, Kalaan Nibonrix Kaiman, Levy Nyirenda, and Cherry Sung report their takeaways on where the world stands on carbon capture and storage technologies, agroforestry, climate education and other critical solutions in the Race to Net Zero. Ayala, Kaiman, Nyirenda and Sung recently interviewed global experts Dan Schrag, UnaMay Gordon, Susan Chomba and Chris Dede.

Activists from the acclaimed Net Zero video series, launched at the beginning of the year, have conducted over 24 interviews with international climate leaders to monitor the world’s progress toward reaching Net Zero.  To support the video series, the new podcast series features the activists sharing the key takeaways from their interviews and research.

The Protect our Planet Movement in association with Planet Classroom has launched the acclaimed Net Zero video and podcast series in which 24 youth climate activists from the Protect Our Planet (POP) Movement in association with Planet Classroom ask international thought leaders working on the environment the big questions as to how their nations are progressing towards their 2050 Net Zero pledges.
