Rob Lea releases empowering new single, Time of My Life

It has been a brilliantly creative year for Rob Lea with the releases of Summer in the Morning and Freak, as well as an appearance on Starstruck, so when we learnt that the rising star had just released Time of My Life, we couldn’t wait to experience it!

Drawing us in with an acoustic soundscape and the situational and self-referential lyrics, “I’m a pain, I know, that I dupladiserious, I work all day, it’s making you delirious, no need to scream, I promise you, I’ll finish when I’m done…”, Rob Lea opens Time of My Life with depth and even an invented word that is a hybrid of duplicitous and serious!

We can always count on Rob Lea for intellectualised and self-realized prose and a charming delivery, laced with poetic prowess, and Time of My Life is no different.

The opus has an uplifting and empowering vibe, and we appreciate the expansive nature of the track which is playful, indie-rock with catchy hooks as Rob sings, “I want to party with the cool kids” and promises us that he wants to have the time of his life.

Speaking on the meaning of Time of My Life, Rob confesses, “This song is very personal to me. I’m one of those people that will not stop. I am determined to create a better life for myself, my kids and my family. And even through the endless struggle and rejection life throws at you, I carry on, because I know in my heart I can die a happy man knowing I’ve give it my all. That said, as I’ve grown I also see more and more how fleeting time is. So I try harder and harder to give myself that time to enjoy life. But boy, am I gonna party when I can’t hack it anymore.”

It’s refreshing to experience some unabashed positivity, and we are grateful that Rob Lea is sharing his voice so authentically. Rob is based in Blackpool and born in Leeds, and made a name for himself across our TV screens earlier this year when he competed in the ITV talent show Starstruck hosted by Olly Murs!

Rob Lea transformed himself into Freddie Mercury for the show, something he’s no stranger to doing as the frontman of Queen Tribute Band, Majesty, who are one of the UK’s premiere touring Queen tribute bands, performing at UK and international theatres and festivals.

It is no surprise that Rob has been signed to US label WBA, and has been featured in the Daily Star, Earmilk, Mundane Magazine, Yorkshire Evening Post and The Blackpool Gazette to name a few!

We look forward to what is to come from the visionary artist and have added Time of My Life to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Rob Lea‘s wider discography!
