Leon Flames takes us on a profound journey with powerful and introspective new single, Stalin’s Lapel

Setting the tone with an immersive synthscape, a textured beat and dimensional bassline with vocal add libs, Leon Flames opens Stalin’s Lapel with intrigue and a meditative energy as he delivers epic flow, and empowering, though-provoking lyricism.

The opus expands into a timeless hip-hop energy with futuristic nuance, as the London-based artist (and firefighter!) takes us on a profound journey through his spirit and mind, laced with poetic prowess.

Speaking on the release, Leon confesses, “I named the single Stalin’s Lapel because Russians typically didn’t have lapel’s on their uniforms, thus making a lapel something something which is unseen. I liken that to my music and this song in particular.”

He adds with reference to his unique delivery, “The type of rhymes, metaphors, subject matter and cadence which I use is almost unseen in today’s musical scope.”

We appreciate the depth and authenticity that Leon Flames shares with the composition, which we learn is part of his upcoming full length double album in 2023, which will be titled Kings Never Give Up.

Elaborating on his creative output, Leon tells us, “Stalin’s Lapel is structured as one long verse without a chorus. It was written as an in depth display of artistry, which delves into the mind of a deep thinking rapper on a mental journey. The song pushes the boundaries of how far an artist can go on an abstract journey of real subject matter, whilst flowing in ways that are rarely heard.”

We are in awe of what Leon Flames is sharing and the synergy between his name, and role in society as a hybrid rapper and firefighter keeping London safe! He shares a sense of vulnerability and empowerment which keeps us gripped throughout the entire track, which we have added to our New Music Spotlight, whilst we anticipate Kings Never Give Up, and stream his existing discography including Lone Sailor, and Wasted!
