With a brand new EP under her belt, and critically acclaimed success in her field, it has been an incredible year for Karen Harding, so when we learned that the talented artist was set to release a new single, Strong For You, we couldn’t wait to hear it!
Drawing us in with an immersive piano melody and intricate guitar, Karen Harding opens Strong For You with the introspective lyrics, “Oh I’ve been walking for so long, I don’t know what it is, that keeps me going and going and going and going, there’s a fire burning strong, I don’t know what it is…”
We are absolutely in love the melody and the message behind the song which really exemplifies what Karen is all about, perseverance despite fully understanding what drives us as human beings. We also appreciate that she chose to release the opus on the aligned date of 11 November.
Speaking on the meaning of the track, Karen confesses, “I love that Strong For You holds layers of meaning. The song can be translated as a declaration of love and a promise to be there with someone special, through the hard times… to say you’ll be there through thick and thin.”
She adds, “I have been going through a period of a lot of self-exploration.. For me, this song was born out of a desire to be there for the aspects of myself that I have previously rejected or disliked… to accept and to carry them through difficult feelings and emotions, even when it’s not comfortable to do so. It’s a song of healing.”
We are mesmerized by Karen Harding’s vocal performance and range on the song, and how she takes us on a journey of through “heartbreak, to a build-up of hope and promise.”
The record is created with P&M Records in Argentina, and we learn that Karen and the production team connected via Instagram, demonstrating that social media can indeed facilitate a refined creative collaboration.
For the Melbourne-based artist, music is a “soul conversation”, that allows “the masks that we hide behind to fall away for a moment of sharing… a moment of mutual understanding… in a language that does not discriminate in any form”, this really comes through in the meaningful and profound composition, which has us hypnotized.
