We recently featured KRISTOPHER for his powerful and emotive cover of Ariana Grande’s Into You, so naturally, we couldn’t wait to hear his brand new original release, Indigo Sky.
Drawing us in with a sharp breath, KRISTOPHER opens Indigo Sky with an intricate and immersive acoustic guitar soundscape and atmospheric vocals as he sings about falling in love under an Indigo Sky.
The opus expands into a luscious, stripped back pop soundscape, allowing KRISTOPHER‘s vocals to shine, as he sings authentically about the conflicted emotions of hookup culture. We love the way that he hums, and the dynamic nature of the track fused with his evocative vocal timbre.
Indigo Sky is KRISTOPHER’s first release of new music since the pandemic, and holds a sense of relatable, timeless nostalgia, addressing “the loneliness of a common but empty proxy for love and validation.” We appreciate the depth and charisma that KRISTOPHER shares, and his emotive delivery towards the end of the track, which has a raw sensibility.
The release comes with a cinematic music video which dramatizes the narrative of the song in a “don’t ask don’t tell date night under the darkened veil of an Indigo Sky“. We love how the visual takes us on an intimate, yet kinda sad date with the artist, from sharing a drink to watching a movie, walking though a corridor, getting into bed, the feelings the next morning and going full circle once again.
Speaking on the releases, KRISTOPHER confesses, “Indigo Sky is about coping mechanisms. There’s nothing wrong or right about turning to fabricated intimacy. It’s a different world until the Sun comes up, but it’s important to be emotionally honest with yourself.”
We are here for what KRISTOPHER is sharing, and are grateful for his vulnerability, and conscious commentary on shared experiences. Indigo Sky has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we await future releases from the rising star.
