BETTY REED releases profound and immersive new single, Shallow End

We recently featured BETTY REED for her empowering and bold single, Without You, so when we heard that she had just released the brand new, Shallow End, we couldn’t wait to experience it!

Establishing the mood with a dimensional celestial texture, BETTY REED opens Shallow End with the metaphorical lyrics, “When it takes ahold of, water’s murky and I don’t trust what I don’t see, dip my toes in where the monsters creep…”

The opus takes us on a transcendental journey laced with poetic prowess as BETTY REED shares a conceptual message about drowning in the Shallow End.

We appreciate the authenticity that BETTY REED shares with her depth (yes a pun), nuance and vulnerability. The artist bares her soul, with exquisite production and incredible vocal range. We are in awe of the out of this world guitar solo!

Speaking on the release, BETTY REED confesses, “Shallow End is about the complex and conflicting emotions I experience when in the throes of depression. When depression sets in, it’s not like I’m in the deep end of a pool struggling to not drown. It’s more like this feeling that I’m floundering in the shallow end and there is an easy way to rescue myself. I merely have to stand up. But it’s hard to do even that when your brain is malfunctioning.”

The rising artist elaborates, “I was a bit reluctant to release this song because of how personal it is. But every time I play this song live, the response is incredible. People who cope with depression come up to me and tell me how beautifully I’ve captured exactly how they feel and it’s comforting to know that they are not alone in the struggle.”

We love the message and are glad that BETTY REED released Shallow End, which we have added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream her wider discography including Drunk on You and Misunderstood!
