Griffen Handshake channel authenticity and freedom on new single, CANCEL

We recently featured Griffen Handshake for their powerful and thought-provoking single, All My Friends Wanna Be Doctors, so when we heard that they just released CANCEL, we couldn’t wait to experience it!

Drawing us in with a drum stick count in and the alternative rock soundscape that we have learnt to love and expect from the band, Griffen Handshake open CANCEL with honest lyricism and vulnerability.

We appreciate the authenticity that the band share with their assertive and self-reflective opus as they question life and their purpose. Their mission? To CANCEL “cancel culture”.

Speaking on the release, the band confess, “Our new punk song is a rallying cry for those struggling with the anxiety of living in today’s toxic social media world.”

Griffen Handshake elaborate with intention, “CANCEL represents our band’s motto: love imperfection. There are always going to be moments in our life when we mess up or make a wrong decision. This song is about emphasizing the idea that the past doesn’t have to define us if we are constantly changing, growing, and improving as people.”

The middle eight has a transcendental edge that we cannot get enough of, and we love how consciously thought out Griffen Handshake‘s songs are, and the optimistic vibe that they share is tangible. The punk duo are brothers and also proud members of the Pittsburgh music scene.

We have added CANCEL to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Griffen Handshakes wider discography!
