It’s been a great year professionally for Gemïny with his fierce and evocative debut single, Too Close and as he took us on a romantic adventure, and inspired us to dance with, Hesitation, so we couldn’t wait to experience Creep!
Setting the tone with an immersive rising frequency, Gemïny opens Creep with a soul-pop vibe and a showcase of his vocal range. The rising artist demonstrates his poetic prowess, charisma and unique skillset swiftly, whilst the song expands into a delightful and dimensional journey, laced with incredible hooks and a multi-layered boyband experience as Gemïny plays with our minds, hearts and spirits.
Speaking on the sonic intention of the track, Gemïny tells us how, “Creep blossoms like a flower revived after the winter – from chilling provocation to explosive assertion…”
We learn that Creep tells the story of tragic star-crossed lovers in an abusive and traumatic relationship, and that the song details Gemïny’s experience with a stalker that was the result of a one night stand.
The way that Gemïny brings to life his experience and extreme emotions in part to the trauma created by the situation is tangible. He likens the experience to the series You on Netflix.
For Creep, Gemïny and his team used Thriller by Michael Jackson as a reference, and also aligned to the Halloween adjacent release date. We can feel this come through, although there is no doubt that Gemïny has included his own subversive sonic design to bring to life his story.
We have added Creep to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Gemïny‘s two previous singles, and await further releases from the rising star.
