Silja Rós releases mesmerizing visual for cinematic new single, Lie Just To Lie

Setting the tone with a bold, orchestral strings energy, Silja Rós opens Lie Just To Lie with drama and intrigue before singing introspectively, “Is it too late for your love? Is it too late for your touch? Is it too late for us to return what’s lost?

The opus expands into a glistening soundscape, we are immersed with Silja Rós‘ charismatic vocals and the vibrancy of the guitar. We learn that the Icelandic, contemporary R&B artist is jazz-educated and seeks inspiration in artists like Amy Winehouse, Moon Child and Sabrina Claudio.

We can feel her influences come to life in Lie Just To Lie, although it is clear that Silja Rós is creating a dimension of her own. Her soaring vocals are out of this world, and we appreciate her choice of jazzy chord progressions and clean, pop production. Silja Rós has already released two albums, and it is no surprised that they have both been selected The Album of the Week at Icelands National Radio station Rás 2.

Silja Rós confesses that Lie Just To Lie was written on an Autumn day in Denmark in 2020 with Silja’s Danish co-writer René Andreas Kowalczyk. She tells us, “It is a sexy, sensual tune about the struggle of letting go of love that’s as strong as a drug, toxic and addictive.”

We love the 007 vibes that the song exudes and could definitely imagine Silja Rós singing a future James Bond theme! Magnus Dagsson plays bass and guitar on the track, whilst René arranged the song with Stefán Örn who produced and mixed the track, with mastering by Skonrokk.

Lie Just To Lie comes with an elegant red-tinged music video, directed and filmed by Tayler McWhorter in Los Angeles. Silja Rós delivers a mesmerizing performance which truly captures the essence of the song.

We have added Lie Just To Lie to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Silja Rós‘ wider discography including Stay Still, Hold Me and More of You.
