Air-Ik releases brooding, moody and subversive cover of Blondie’s Call Me

Setting the tone with a cerebral soundscape and pulsating drums, with enigmatic guitar notes, Air-Ik opens his cover of Blondie‘s iconic song, Call Me with intrigue and dimensionality.

The opus expands into a dynamic and dark, alternative rock soundscape with atmospheric vocals and the creative, metaphorical lyricism we loved from the original, and we are obsessed.

We appreciate the prowess that Air-Ik shares with his artistry and his charismatic delivery on Call Me. The rising artist confesses, “For Call Me, I was inspired to cover this classic song by Blondie after hearing the original as the theme for the new Showtime series American Gigolo. I imagined it being slowed down and a little darker and decided to take a shot at recording it that way.”

We are in awe of the result and it has inspired us to explore more of Air-Ik‘s wider discography including Anti-Lullaby and Warmonger. We can imagine that fans of Marilyn Manson will be able to connect with Air-Ik‘s cover of Call Me, but it is also clear that the artist is creating a universe of his very own, with his own sound.

Call Me has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Air-Ik‘s Top Tracks on Spotify!
