Setting the tone with a texture riser, exploding into an alternative rock meets rock’n’roll energy, Electric High opens Cyclone with the assertive lyrics, “F-f-f-faster, I’m your ringmaster, cracking my whip for a bit of your time…”
The opus expands into a high octane adventure full of metaphors, iconic and memorable add libs and poetic prowess. When discussing the meaning of Cyclone, Electric High tell us, “You know when you feel like a circus animal that’s being chased around the ring, trying to escape the Ringmaster’s notorious whip?”
The continue, “It feels like a giant storm is building up around and inside you, that is about to break loose with full force … This song is not about that. It’s about the Ringmaster, and being the one who swings the whip on other people. The one who whips up the storm and demands that everyone follows his command.”
We love their analysis of their art, the charisma that they share with their delivery, and how the communicate their message. We learn that Cyclone was recorded in Havnelageret Studio, Bergen, Norway, and is produced by Electric High and Daniel Birkeland. The track was mixed at Solslottet Studio, Bergen, Norway, by Iver Sandøy.
Electric High is a high voltage rock band from Bergen, Norway, influenced by bands like Wolfmother, Aerosmith and Black Sabbath, which we can hear come through in their artistry, although it is clear that they are creating a sonic universe of their own.
We are in awe of the instrumental segment, and the guitar solo is simply out of this world. The build takes us back into the anthemic opus, laden with memorable hooks.
We have added Cyclone to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to explore and stream Electric High‘s wider discography including Walls Fall Down and Colorful White Lies.
