Mishell Ivon enforces her boundaries on vibrant and high octane new single, More than this

It has been a strong year for Mishell Ivon with the releases of the empowering and chic, NAMELESS, and the fierce single, Energy, so we couldn’t wait to experience her latest offering, More than this!

Enticing us with a textured riser and cerebral, waving synth before we are immersed into a luscious and dimensional soundscape, Mishell Ivon opens More than this with her signature, high frequency “neon” energy and the introspective lyrics, “I know, somethings are meant to be and some are not…”

The opus expands into a vibrant, electronic pop vibe, with references that span decades, fusing 80s nostalgia with the present. We learn that More than this is the result of a collaboration with Canadian producer Jordan Perry. Mishell Ivon comments, “We worked well off of each others ideas and direction!”

Speaking on the meaning of More than this, the rising artist from Munich tells us, “The song is about a moment and the after thought of that moment.” She adds with reference to the philosophy of message, “We were out having a good time, something happened, it was great but let’s keep walking our paths separate.”

We appreciate the depth of More than this, and there is no doubt that fans of Paula Abdul, Janet Jackson and Lady Gaga will be able to connect with Mishell Ivon‘s soundscape, although it is clear that she is creating her own neon-tinged dimension!

Mishell Ivon leaves us with the inspiring quote, “A true dream is living in a beautiful reality that you created for yourself”, and we couldn’t agree more. We have added More than this to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Mishell Ivon‘s wider discography including Love Attention, Nameless and Feel Yourself!
