It has been a year of growth and evolution for Dream of a Man in a Top Hat with the releases of Cold Hard Dirt, All Time Is Borrowed Time and Eggshell Minefield, so we couldn’t wait to hear their latest single, Opposite Poles.
Drawing us in with industrial-style electric guitar and bold drum riffs, Dream of a Man in a Top Hat open Opposite Poles with a subversive and a chaotic energy.
The composition expands into a divergent rock-hybrid energy, as the duo take us on a trippy journey with raw and sometimes discordant vocals and often psychedelic instrumentation.
Opposite Poles features two distinct sets of vocals, from each of the band members, and clearly an homage to the concept of the song. The vocal design is super unique, with layers, sometimes reminiscent of the band, Blur, but definitely recognisable as Dream of a Man in a Top Hat‘s definitive style.
We appreciate the originality of the soundscape that Dream of a Man in a Top Hat create, and the duo, comprised of Lee Leffler (guitars, keyboards, vocals, lyrics) and Michael Frackleton (drums, bass, percussion, keyboards, vocals, lyrics) never fail to release something distinguishable and profound.
With imaginative concepts and an especially syncopated style, Dream of a Man in a Top Hat are setting themselves apart from the crowd. We have added Opposite Poles to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to explore the duo’s wider discography!
