Setting the tone with subtle pulsating energy with a cosmic synthscape, Moana A, Kendra Dantes and Soulplusmind open Mad Woman with intrigue, atmospheric vocals and the powerful lyrics, “Evil twisted, devil risen, I will not bow down, run and hide, you’re losing time, cos I will burn your crown…”
The opus expands into a dynamic and multi-dimensional, dark-pop, electronica energy, as Moana A, Kendra Dantes and Soulplusmind take us on an impactful and cinematic journey of empowerment!
We appreciate the poetic prowess of the piece and how the vocals of Moana A and Kendra Dantes cohesively fuse together. The strings design is super emotive, and the sonic drop outs before the hook add a sense of iconography to the anthemic composition.
Speaking on the intention and backstory of the track, the creators tell us, “Throughout history, powerful women have been called witches whenever they threatened the power. That has only encouraged them to embrace that dark side, which in turn has increased their dominance, turning them into bigger monsters than the ones who created them. This song is giving them a voice to share their own narrative without shame.”
The middle eight is particularly transcendental, and we are also mesmerized with the artwork, which fits the narrative and power of the song perfectly!
Emerging from Sacramento, California, Kendra Dantes is a singer-songwriter with a penchant for cinematic pop. We love the energy that the three creators bring to the piece, and have added Mad Woman to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we explore each of their wider discographies!
