Silas Armstrong releases emotive and dimensional new single, Silver

Setting the tone with a cosmic, rising texture and 80s-esque add libs, Silas Armstrong opens Silver with a sense of retro-futurism and the conceptual lyrics, “Sterling silver, a ring for every finger, diamonds, shining, gave me perfect timing…”

The opus expands into an alternative power-pop meets indie-rock energy, as Silas Armstrong takes us on a synth led and charming journey, whilst he professes adoration for his muse, which we learn is his mother, though exquisite lyrical metaphors including the hook, “You are the Silver lining…”

We appreciate the poetic prowess that Silas Armstrong shares with his words, and charisma with which he delivers his vocals. The sounds of glistening coins add dimensionality to the composition, and the sax solo is simply out of this world!

We learn that Silas’ global streams have already passed 180,000 and that he is set to release an album in the coming months. Silver is the first release of the new album campaign with regular single releases each month from September 2022 until February 2023.

Silas Armstrong cites Adele, Dave Grohl, Toto, and Marc Cohn as his musical influences, which we can feel come through on Silver, although it is clear that he is carving a path of his own, both sonically and lyrically.

The rising artist, from Brixton in London, dubs his music “emotional pop”, with “the energy of hip hop, rock, and a constant nod to the 80s”. His earliest memory of recorded music is of listening to Michael Jackson’s Bad in the back of the car. He has written lyrics and music since he was nine and used to lie in bed listening to John Peel on Radio 1.

Having performed at Glastonbury and toured Europe with Panic at the Disco! as a band member, the 2020 lockdown gave him the momentum and material to pursue his lifelong dream of a solo career.

We appreciate the depth and authenticity with which Silas Armstrong creates, and have added Silver to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream his wider discography including Amber and Liar.
