It’s been an epic year for Red Skies Mourning with the releases of Lost Without You, In The Moment and Where You Been?, so we couldn’t wait to hear his brand new offering, Somethin About Her.
Teasing us with an immersive, tropical melody and emotive add libs, Red Skies Mourning opens Somethin About Her with intrigue and elegance, before expanding into a clean pop soundscape and the yearning lyrics, “I hope that you notice, I got your focus…”
The opus expands into a romantic energy as Red Skies Mourning aka Chris Aleshire, along with the support of co-writer Ryan Curtis and producer, Cesar Da Emperor, takes us on a journey that is familiar and moving.
We appreciate the polished pop sound and rippling 80s style drum riffs that Red Skies Mourning creates with. He paints powerful emotional pictures with metaphors and luscious harmonies. The beat design is innovative and yet hold a sense of nostalgia.
With an interesting background, from a US Marine to the stage, Red Skies Mourning applies his live experience to create his profound art, and fuses it with a deep-seated love for Rock, Pop, Rap, Hip Hop and R&B, to create his discography.
Based out of Bowie Maryland, he played in Metal, Hardcore and Rock bands including Carved In Stone, Erase The Past and Taken by Force and performed at iconic venues CBGBs (NYC), Nations (DC) and The Underworld (London).
Inspired by Chris Cornell, Twenty One Pilots, Post Malone, AJR, Marshmello and more, we can feel the references that Red Skies Mourning shares with his sound, but there is no doubt that he is also creating a wave of his own.
