Days Are Done release emotive and vibrant new single, I’ve Tried

Establishing the mood with a cymbal and drum riff, expanding with intricate guitar and bass, Days Are Done open I’ve Tried with the situational lyrics, “I know what you’re saying, now ain’t the time, but all I can hear is, ‘this doesn’t feel right’…”

The opus expands into a meaningful alternative pop meets neo-soul energy, as the Manchester-based duo take us on a narrative adventure touching on themes of the human condition and relationship woes.

We love the harmonies and poetic prowess with which Days Are Done create. The duo is comprised of multi-disciplinary artist Emmy Kay and BAFTA-winning, neurodivergent artist Adam Lewis.

Speaking on the release and their creative style, Adam says, “We don’t really self edit in the traditional sense.” He adds, “Musically, we definitely have loads influences – everyone from Hall & Oates to George Michael to Luther Vandross to H.E.R. but we’re creating our own world. We’re the new vintage, that’s how we see it.” We can feel the influences that Adam references, and concur that Days Are Done are indeed creating a universe of their own.

“We very much slip into our own world when we’re creating”, says Emmy. “We’ve got this tiny studio in our flat in Manchester and once we’re inside nothing else exists. We share the vocals but we don’t decide one which one of is gonna sing which song really. It just happens naturally. songs are a snapshot of us and what we’re going through at the time. And it sort of like ‘come with us. welcome to our world.”

We appreciate the authenticity that the pair create with, and the quality of their release can be backed up by the fact that they have composed music for TV, film and games together. One of the tracks they wrote for the Overcooked! game is currently at over 30 million streams on TikTok, and Adam has won a BAFTA for the BBC’s Baker Boys.

We learn that I’ve Tried is mixed by Steve Power (Robbie Williams, Womack & Womack etc), which certainly adds to it’s sonic value, and we have added the composition to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Days Are Done‘s wider discography including I Would Die 4 U.
