Setting the tone with luscious, layered acoustic guitar, Zachary Zwelling opens She’s Dancing with intrigue, warmth and the situational, yet introspective lyrics, “Go where you wanna go, I’ll be here without you…”
The opus expands into a dream-pop meets indie hybrid soundscape, with atmospheric vocals as Zachary Zwelling tells the story of “a girl who appears as if her life is perfect, though inside, she feels insecure and lost.”
Elaborating on the muse of his song, Zachary Zwelling adds, “Even though the people around her give her plenty of attention and approval, nothing will ever satisfy her and make her feel okay. In this song, I can see how much she is struggling while no one else seems to notice.
I think many people can relate to this and have experienced a similar situation with someone in their life.”
A minute into She’s Dancing, Zachary sings the hook, “And now she’s dancing with my whole band around her…”, as the composition evolves with a more robust band sound from it’s acoustic roots, staying true to the soundscape of the piece, but simultaneously allowing our protagonist to express himself more emotively.
We appreciate the poetic nuance and authentic vibe that Zachary Zwelling shares with his artistry. Speaking on his creative background and current activities, Zachary confesses, “I played Zack, the guitar playing kid in School of Rock on Broadway. I performed in 400 shows over the course of a year. I have played gigs for Nike, and have played in clubs and venues throughout LA and New York. My band has played school dances and we play at as many High School parties as we can.”
