The Nightshift Cashier takes us on a nocturnal trip with intricate debut single, Burger, Midnight

Establishing the mood with a luscious and immersive soundscape, The Nightshift Cashier opens Burger, Midnight with charismatic vocals and the situational lyrics, “Something’s coming over me…”, as he takes us on a narrative based, nocturnal journey.

We appreciate the intricacy of the soundscape and the dimensional guitar performance as The Nightshift Cashier delivers a high concept opus, cementing his brand identity.

We learn that The Nightshift Cashier is the brainchild of Naarm/Melbourne-based musician and producer Bud Wilkins. Although he cites acts like Toto, Steely Dan, Michael McDonald and Boz Skaggs as a fusion of his influences, it is clear that The Nightshift Cashier is creating a universe of his own!

Burger, Midnight is from The Nightshift Cashier‘s upcoming debut EP (available on BandCamp), and tells the tale of “a runaway musician couple who come across some money, and do what anyone would – open a burger store!”

Although moody and subversive, there is a danceable element to his creations and we are here to stan. We appreciate the poetic nuance of the lyricism and the guitar solo is simply out of this world! The way that The Nightshift Cashier layers his instrumentation is exquisite.

We have added Burger, Midnight to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we anticipate the release of the full EP to streaming services! In the meantime, you can experience a taste on BandCamp!
