As certified super fans of King Kismet, having recently reviewed his singles, Catching Fire, Wounded Healer, and Call Me, we were extremely excited to immerse ourselves in his latest release, Afterglow!
Enticing us with a luscious synth frequency and astral vocal add libs, King Kismet opens Afterglow with intrigue, dimensionality and the lyrics, “Maybe there’s more that we need, maybe there’s more we can know, the scent of your skin as we’re taking off our defences and all of our clothes…”
Afterglow evolves into an intricate contemporary pop meets EDM energy, filled with charm and poetic nuance. We learn that Afterglow is “inspired by the concept of learning to let down our walls and let love into our lives”.
King Kismet tells us that the song is “about the courage it takes to show up for ourselves and to keep pursuing our dreams.” We love King Kismet‘s production style, which is cohesive with his wider discography, but the delivery and range from Australian vocalist Seb Mont is simply out of this world, as he communicates the thought-provoking song-writing of Seany B.
Elaborating on the inspiration behind Afterglow, King Kismet confesses, “This song was heavily inspired by the album A Moment Apart by ODESZA. We spent a lot of time studying the structure and vibe of that album when we jumped into this track.”
The rising star from Phoenix adds with wisdom, “It’s about having faith in the pursuit of our dreams even when we cannot see how things will come together. As long as we hold true to our vision and never stop. It’s only a matter of time until we manifest all of our desires. The song touches on the aspects of letting down our walls in order to let love in and show up as ourselves in this world, in order to give that light and energy to everything we do and everyone we meet.”
We always appreciate the depth and authenticity that King Kismet shares with his artistry, and Afterglow is no exception. The pulsating drums, fused with Seb Mont‘s dimensional delivery and Seany B‘s deep lyricism are a winning combination.
We have added Afterglow to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream King Kismet‘s wider discography!
