We recently featured Australian rising pop star, Sharl for her thought-provoking and emotive single, That Girl, and her vibrant bid for honesty on Games, so we were excited to hear that she just released the brand new single, Outside.
Opening with immersive keys and atmospheric vocals as Sharl sings the assertive lyrics, “Walk into the room, see I can read you like a book, know you just want attention…”, we remember why we first fell in love with Sharl‘s charismatic and sometimes theatrical brand of pop.
The opus expands into a delightful and fierce disco-adjacent number which has us wanting to move our feet and escape into the night. The story of the track documents a “wild night on the town”, and we appreciate the adventure that Sharl takes us on with her poetic lyricism, sensual vibes and melodically enchanting storytelling skills.
Lyrical highlights include the fierce “Ooh, they tell me avoid ya, say you’re like poison baby…” and the hedonistic “I’ll meet you on the outside, make it out of plain sight, make out in the street light, do whatever feels right...”
We learn that Outside is the final single release from Sharl’s upcoming and independently released album, City Lights, set for release on 26th August! Since releasing music from January 2022, there is no doubt that Sharl is rapidly establishing herself as an emerging artist to be reckoned with.
Fans of Dua Lipa and Rina Sawayama will be able to connect with Sharl‘s sound, but it is clear that she is creating a dimension of her own!
Outside has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Sharl‘s wider discography including 3 Words, That Girl and Hanging On.
