Scarlet Joy seek freedom on powerful and anthemic sophomore single, Rescue

Immersing us from the get-go with a bold and vibrant alternative rock soundscape, Scarlet Joy open their new single, Rescue with the introspective and vulnerable lyrics, “I wanna let go of everything I’m holding onto, I want to let go of everything I can’t control, holding on too tight, help me find a way to let go, holding on too tight…”

Rescue expands into an authentic and self-realized journey to manifest freedom, as vocalist Sophia Woodcraft questions, “When will I be free?”

Speaking on the release, we learn from Scarlet Joy that, “There are several veins running through Rescue and its fierce declaration of feeling conflicted and trapped in relationships.”

The band asks the important questions, “How do we break away from the things we love but feel tied to and know are holding us back? How do we let go of the things that are bad for us but that we repeatedly choose? We can get so lost in trying to save someone else, when ultimately, we can only ever save ourselves.”

Rescue comes with a powerful and hypnotizing performance video, bringing to life the raw emotion from the trio. Scarlet Joy consists of vocalist and guitarist Sophia Woodcraft with Drew Moore on drums and Tom Latham on bass.

All three band members are from Lincolnshire in the United Kingdom, and live in the Spilsby area. They are influenced by Grunge Rock, Alternative Rock, Indie Rock. Nirvana, Hole, PJ Harvey, Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age, which we can feel come through in their sound, although it is clear that they are creating a universe of their own.

We are looking forward to Scarlet Joy‘s album which touches on themes of the human condition, exploring themes of love, loss, hope and fate. In the meantime, we have added Rescue to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we also stream their debut single, Lost at Sea.
