Alien Machine releases subversive and emotive EP, the sea complains

Establishing the mood with textured details and an angst driven vocal performance, Alien Machine opens his EP, the sea complains, with the single math, and the situational lyrics, “In a pitch black stairway, you stumble and crack your head on the walls, and the silhouette up ahead gestures mockingly, watching you fall…”

math expands into a hardcore punk meets alternative rock frequency as Alien Machine delivers an immersive and urgent performance as he sings existentially, “The past is a grotesque animal but the future’s even worse…”

Next up on the EP is why, which features industrial guitar and takes us on a subversive and introspective journey. Speaking on the release, Alien Machine confesses, “The project was born out of a frustration with writers block, and the stress as a DIY artist of feeling like constant releases are necessary to maintain momentum.”

This is a very relatable theme with rising artists of today and the sentiment comes through eloquently with Alien Machine‘s soundscape.

coward is the third track on the EP where the artist from Fort Worth references his pain and anguish. We appreciate the raw and authentic sonic landscape that is delivered with his turmoil.

We then experience aquaburst which opens with a static, rising guitar before exploding into the universe of Alien Machine that we have learnt to love. Lyrically there is a sense of optimism and self awareness that is harnesses in the opus. We love the spoken words where Alien Machine references his relationship with pharmaceutical and the “pills that make [him] feel okay…”

The final track on the EP is Sputnik Heart – Special Version, which is the most melodic number on the record, lending itself to a sense of catharsis for the artist.

Alien Machine likens his artistry to “King Crimson on bleach”, although it is clear that he is creating a universe of his own! We have added math to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we explore Alien Machine’s wider discography including kick rocks and untitled intro song.
