We recently featured Presley Duyck as she proved that she was there for her friends on the reassuring, Cold Together, so we were thrilled to hear that the rising artist had just released the brand new, My Someone.
Setting the tone with luscious and intricate acoustic guitar and an immersive drum riffs, fused with an emotive “ooooh“, Presley Duyck opens My Someone with the situational lyrics, “It’s been a long time since I’ve been to the city, it’s been a long time since you called me pretty, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen your face, don’t you wanna turn around and see the mess you’ve made…”
The opus expands into a luscious, cinematic and emotive soft rock energy, and we are hypnotized by Presley Duyck vocals and vulnerability. My Someone marks Presley Duyck fifth release as an indie singer-songwriter. The song is produced by Chris Garcia with guitar by Nick Lashley.
Presley confesses, “I wrote this after listening to stories about loved ones going off to war back in 2021.” We appreciate the intention that Presley creates with, and the poetic nuance of her lyricism, which paints a very relevant picture for today’s unfortunate political circumstances.
Presley grew up enamored by folk music and classic rock. She also grew up with a love for the art of storytelling which is on full display in her exquisite catalogue of songs.
My Someone tells a story of love and hope, longing and sadness. We are particularly moved by the lyrics, “It’s time to rest my dear…”
Elaborating on the story, Presley Duyck confesses, “This story is of a man who leaves his wife to go fight in a war, despite her desperate pleas for him to stay. Though she is beside herself with his decision to leave and join the military to fight in the war, she also understands and desperately wants to believe against all odds that he will make it home back to her and the life and love they have created together.”
We have added My Someone to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Presley Duyck‘s wider discography including Juliet and Passenger Seat!
