MY BABY release immersive, psychedelic and dimensional new single, stupid

We recently featured Amsterdam trio, MY BABY, for their epic genre-bending record, sake sake sake, so we were thrilled to hear that they had just released a brand new single, stupid.

Establishing the mood with a percussive detail and a down-pitched “stupid“, before expanding into a dimensional electronic pop soundscape with a hypnotizing bassline and nuanced melodic riffs, MY BABY open their latest composition with atmospheric and textured vocals singing, “When you really wanna do it, don’t need no permission…”

The opus evolves with dynamic instrumental segments that have us fully hypnotized, with elements of psychedelia and soaring soundscapes. stupid is dubbed the group’s “most daring dancefloor filler yet”, and just in time for festival season!

It is produced by five time Grammy Award winner Steve Dub (Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, Daft Punk) and takes u son a cerebral journey though space and time. It even comes with a vibrant music video featuring high couture styling, psychedelic animated visuals and a moody blue-toned performance from the trio!

Speaking on the record, MY BABY frontwoman Cato van Dyck confesses, “On this record we reworked a lot of tracks by sampling parts and processing them. Combined with the use of some synth and sequenced bits it has resulted in our most sparse and electronic sounding album to date.”

She adds, “With every album we aim to reinvent ourselves and try and stretch the envelope of what defines MY BABY“.

Drummer Sheik van Dyck elaborates, “It’s our most intricately produced dance track yet…It has been through several reconstructions but from the start it felt like a key track born out of an original idea. This is MY BABY attempting a banger!! Haha. I think we did alright”.

We definitely concur and have added stupid to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream MY BABY‘s wider discography including Uprising!

Currently on Tour across the EU, MY BABY will bring their hypnotic stage presence back to the UK for a series of shows:

Aug 05 – BRISTOL – Valley Fest
Aug 06 – DEVON -Pigsnose Inn
Aug 07 – OXFORDSHIRE- Wilderness Festival
Aug 28 – NORFOLK – Maui Waui Festival
