We recently featured Jane N’ The Jungle for their conscious and moving visual for Ocean Creatures, so we were thrilled to learn that they had just released their new single DIRTY DOG.
Establishing the mood with an industrial guitar riser expanding into an alternative rock soundscape, vocalist Jordan sings the vulnerable lyrics, “You got me feeling twisted, on my knees and praying, feeling guilty, feeling dirty, feeling bruised…”
DIRTY DOG is a fierce yet meditative female freedom rock anthem wrapped in crisp production, distorted riffs and biting lyrics delivered with abandon and precision about a personal sexual assault.
We are grateful to Jane N’ The Jungle for bringing this topic to light and turning their pain into power to help people heal. The opus is cathartic and thought-provoking, but also super catchy and the hook will stay in your head all day.
Anecdotally, the song was written on a napkin while hanging with Ayron Jones at a local dive bar. Jordan recounts her experience being sexual assaulted and “felt so gross and so small, like a DIRTY DOG”.
It is no surprise that the group has garnered support from outlets like: MTV Spankin’ New, Music Choice and Spotify’s Fierce Femmes. They have features in Wonderland, Alt Press, Women That Rock as well as airplay from various FM rock radio stations across the country including Matt Pinfield’s New and Approved show on KLOS FM Los Angeles. Jane N’ The Jungle are also endorsed by Gibson Guitars and recently raised funds for both Make-A-Wish and Give A Note Foundation.
We have added DIRTY DOG to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue streaming Jane N’ The Jungle‘s wider discography!
