Freddie Fiction releases epic music video for vibrant and dimensional single, Lie To Me

Establishing the mood with a textured riser, expanding into a hybrid-pop frequency, Freddie Fiction opens his new single, Lie To Me with the lyrics, “If it’s the end, then I don’t think I could ever make it out alive, there’s one way for me to survive…”

Lie To Me evolves with claps, guitar strums and immersive drums to deliver a story of living in denial instead of facing the painful truth, as our protagonist begs us to lie to him to save him from his emotions.

We love the dimensionality of the soundscape and the relatability of the song, where Freddie sings emotively, “I don’t want the truth…” to protect himself from the pain of the end of a relationship.

Freddie Fiction uses his platform and creative talents to not only write touching love songs, but also songs that address societal issues that affect us all. His first single, Just Let Me Breathe released in December 2020, focused on the Black Lives Matter movement. His subsequent single, Avenger, was a powerful tribute to the strong women in one’s life and makes use of superhero metaphors in the lyrics.

Lie To Me is composed and produced by Freddie himself and mixed by Bob Horn, a multi-platinum selling and Grammy Award-winning Producer and Mixing Engineer in Los Angeles.

The song also comes with an iconic music video which features Freddie in the snow with a crashed airplane, an epic performance scene and a trip to the beach with cinematic shots and high production value.

Lie To Me was filmed on two different continents. In Africa, at sea level, on the sun-drenched beaches of Zanzibar, and in South Asia, 2,800 meters above sea level, on the snowy peaks of the Himalayas. A record for a music video film shoot with the greatest disparity in altitude!

In order to reach the destination of the spectacular Himalayas, Freddie Fiction, with his film crew of six, embarked on a three-hour drive into the mountains and a further three-hour perilous hike uphill in the snow with heavy camera equipment. The peak’s unbelievable views were worth the ice slipping, feet blisters, and near missteps that would’ve sent them plummeting down from the narrow mountain path.

Freddie Fiction reveals more depth on the inspiration behind the Lie To Me visuals:

“The music video shows a pilot crashing into the snowy peaked Himalayan mountain ranges. He knows that he is hundreds of miles from civilisation, and out there in the cold without provisions, he will likely die. However, in his mind, he conjures up an alternate reality. He envisions himself on a sun-drenched beach with a beautiful woman.”

He continues, “In the end, as the snow falls around him and it’s getting dark, the temperatures drop below freezing. He settles down and closes his eyes with a smile because in his mind, he is somewhere else and happy. The last shot is of the two of them together at the sun-drenched beach. Did he perish on that mountain or did he make it out to reunite with the girl. That’s for the viewer to watch and decipher”.

We are obsessed with the depth and value that Freddie Fiction puts into his artistry and have added Lie To Me to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we immerse ourselves further in his discography!
