Setting the tone with a warped texture which segues into enigmatic sliding power chords, we are already hypnotized by Vix 20‘s new single, Invisible Girl.
Expanding into a playful and vibrant power-pop meets ska-hybrid soundscape, Vix 20 open Invisible Girl with the lyrics, “Sure enough, cause a fuss when a bad thing turns to rust and it’s toxic when it’s rain and suffocating…”
The chord change for the hook-laden choruses have us tripping out, and we love the mysterious and magnetic energy that the duo bring out with their composition. Speaking on the meaning of the song, Gary Mills and CJ who are the two primary components of Vix 20 tell us the song is about the “never ending quest to find the one with the help of an algorithm. A chronical of online dating with power cords and power pop.” We love the concept!
Vix 20 also fuse elements of grunge into their genre expansive vibe, and the collective experience from the duo is tangible as you can hear tens of thousands of hours of experience come to life in their opus.

Gary Mills and CJ are two music industry veterans who grew so disillusioned with the state of the music industry that they walked away vowing not to return, but have done so as Vix 20, this time on their own terms.
They describe their frequency as “hard rockers turned to the dark side of pop”, and demonstrate elements of Bowie, Queen and The Beatles in their psychedelia-infused soundscape, although it is clear that they are creating a universe of their own.
We have added Invisible Girl to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream Vix 20‘s wider discography including Orla the Octopus and Try Again.
