Disco Lizards release emotive and subversive love song, Anything Other Than Love

Setting the tone with immersive, echoing strummed electric guitar, we are already hypnotized by Disco Lizards‘ new single, Anything Other Than Love.

Opening with the vulnerable yet assertive lyrics, “This is an emergency, are you even listening? Or are you simply ignoring the facts? Why are you ghosting me? I contacted the police to get to the bottom of everything that’s wrong…”, Disco Lizards deliver a subversive and introspective alternative love song.

With enchanting strings that manifest half way though the song, the minimalist composition is charming, and we really connect with the boundary enforcing hook, “I don’t owe you Anything Other Than Love…”

Anything Other Than Love is the second single from Disco Lizards‘ upcoming second EP, speaking on the process of creating the track, lead singer and writer Matthew Stolworthy says, “I wrote Anything Other Than Love in about 30 minutes in the first couple of weeks of the first lockdown. Based on true events, I haven’t ever released such an honest and heartfelt song.”

Elaborating on the addition of strings, Matthew says, “The composition was exciting because we had never used a violin or such an intimate sound before.”

The new EP, Roll Over Red Rover is being drip released over a period of several weeks – the first single Slow is already out, which we have been streaming, and we have added Anything Other Than Love to our New Music Spotlight playlist!
