Setting the tone with layered synth melodies that build into a luxurious chillwave soundscape, we are already hypnotized by Rosehip‘s latest single, Oxygen.
With syncopated percussion and a pitched vocal sample, we feel immersed as the composition builds to include a soaring saxophone sounding synth, and a breakdown with narrative spoken word touching upon fear, anxiety and the human condition.
We then experience a psychedelic and glistening high synth which expands to deliver amplified emotion and dimensionality for the piece.
For Rosehip, Oxygen serves as a reminder that no matter how difficult life gets, it can all be made better with just one deep breath of fresh air. The track also symbolises conquering an epic challenge, like climbing a mountain. We feel that energy and the overall take out from the song is cathartic.
It is no surprise that Rosehip is expanding rapidly with over 8.5 million Spotify streams, and his popular debut EP Stargaze being featured on the Spotify homepage.
Oxygen is taken from Rosehip‘s 2022 debut album Origins, which, in his own words, “depicts an epic dreamlike adventure within the natural world and the feelings and challenges encountered along the way.”
