Keelah Tay releases introspective and vulnerable new single, Between the Lust

Setting the vibe with an enigmatic and rippling synth melody with high hat details, Keelah Tay opens her latest single, Between the Lust, with textured vocals and the introspective lyrics, “Ravished on the floor again, wrapped in our mistakes, these wicked intentions need a place to play, what you doing come over, let’s conversate…”

Speaking on the message of Between the Lust, Keelah Tay says, “This song is about the modern challenges of trying to find true romantic connections.”

Lyrical highlights include the profound hook “The physical won’t sustain us, what do we do between the lust…”, followed by the vulnerable and honest “I’m so tired of just hooking up, can we meet somewhere between the lust…”

We are obsessed with Keelah‘s hypnotising vocal delivery and how it is fused into an enigmatic and sensual soundscape that amplifies the message of the song. Keelah Tay is a performing artist and songwriter based in LA, who “lives to share the human experience.”

With a hybrid-soul sound that incorporates elements of rock and electronica, we love the direction that Keelah is taking, and her nuanced and poetic lyricism.

Speaking on her artistry, the rising artist from LA says, “I started writing poetry as kid then transitioned into songwriting while pursuing career in musical theatre. Songwriting had been a long-held but hidden ambition for me, and led to the life changing decision to be a full-time devoted independent musician.”

Keelah expands, “Songwriting is the clearest way for me to communicate with people. Having a wide range of taste in music has helped me develop as an artist and as a person.”

When discussing her process, Keelah confesses, “My process usually starts with a lyric idea or a phrase that I flesh out by writing the song on the keyboard. Songwriting is still very instinctual to me.”

We have added Between the Lust to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have been exploring Keelah Tay‘s wider discography including Party Crasher, Cocaine Butterflies and Atomic Bliss.
