Indra delivers cinematic and assertive debut with The Witch

Setting the frequency with a crescendo of plucked strings and intricate and enigmatic keys, Indra opens her debut single, The Witch with atmospheric vocals the conceptual lyrics, “A night bird whispering, in the air, a night bird whispering, I’m gonna be the wicked in your head, ’cause you’ve just, quenched your thirst, with my poison, I’m gonna be the ruin of this land….”

The song expands to assert Indra as The Witch in this dimension, our protagonist takes us on a high concept lyrical adventure, whilst the production and her emotion build cohesively with epic drums, synthwork and passion from the emerging artist from Italy.

The Witch is the first in a series of tracks that will be released by Indra over the coming year, and is described as a journey through human desire and weakness. Indra creates a narrative universe using fictional characters, fused with the drama of our modern reality.

The story of the song sees a young man, looking for someone to blame for his failures, in contrast with the emblematic figure of a witch (at one with nature), indicted and burned-out by the man.

We love how representative this is of misogyny in society and how Indra is making a commentary on the patriarchy.

“You made me, a man of inequality, you are the very thing that rules misery, ’cause you stole my head…” sings Indra with vigour as she has as series of self-realizations in the song.

Indra is the producer of her soundscape, in collaboration with drummer Nømen. We have added The Witch to our New Music Spotlight playlist and are looking forward to hearing more from the rising multi-disciplinary artist.
