We first wrote about Sonomancer, when he teamed up with Martha Goddard on the cerebral and refined, Digital Graves, so we were thrilled to hear that the rising artist from Melbourne had just released a new single, Dreamscapes.
Opening with a rising synthscape that feels simultaneously epic and meditative, the song expands with percussive elements that has us truly transfixed.
We are met with further organic instrumentation and a synthetic and divergent bass which juxtaposes the meditative nature of the song. A vocal stab detail singing “i” emerges with a more acid frequency before ripping psychdelic melodies take us higher.
Dreamscapes expands further with electric guitar energy that grounds and activates our sacral chakra before the song contracts to minimlism and a meditative state once more, we are at peace.
Speaking briefly on the track, the enigmatic artist says, “I prefer to let my music speak for itself, but one thing I will say is that I think this is a very unique piece of music, which is something I always try to accomplish.”
We concur and can confirm the uniqueness of the composition, which has raw and profound moments. Sonomancer cites Future Sound of London, Orbital, CoLD SToRAGE, Chemical Brothers, Boards of Canada, Leftfield and Prodigy as some of his influences, although it is clear that he is creating a universe of his own. We are also obsessed with the artwork series for this release!
Sonomancer adds with wisdom, “This represents a surreal journey that is common to so many and yet so different for each of us.”
We have added Dreamscape to our New Music Spotlight playlist and continues to explore Sonomancer’s wider discography including Core 3 and Industria.
