Lazer Viking releases intricate and hypnotizing new single, Yr Body

Setting the frequency with an enigmatic synth and drum fusion beat, we are already obsessed with the intricacy of Lazer Viking‘s latest single, Yr Body.

Accompanied by a cinematic video featuring and exquisite performance from our protagonist, the song goes on to tell the story an unsuccessful struggle with the bleak reality of loss.

“I feel stuck trying, it’s like I can’t succeed, still picking up the pieces, getting back up on my feet, my heart and soul haunted, tortured with fear, I spend the days and nights obsessing ’bout what could’ve been…” sings Lazer Viking vulnerably and introspectively.

The Prague-based artist is also set to release a new album in September 2022 which will see the genre expansive creator explore “a sound heavy on synth-pop callbacks, deconstructed Italo-disco basslines and proto-techno repetitiveness”.

We have a taste of this with Yr Body which we have on repeat! Speaking on his new vision, Lazer Viking says, “I began working on Tunnel Vision with minimal knowledge of anything EDM related. I had earned my stripes in rock’n’roll but couldn’t shake the feeling that it was becoming wildly constricting. Taking the guitar out of the picture was the next logical step. There was suddenly so much to discover.”

The video for Yr Body is being penned as an anti-dance video, which sees our protagonist sat down during the cinematic masterpiece as he sings, “I want nobody else, baby come back” with a delivery reminiscent of Janet Jackson to some extent. The video also features Zuzana Kaifosz and is directed by Jay Walker

“We were looking to subvert the traditional concept of what a pop music video looks and feels like but stay within the confines of the format at the same time. What Jay brought to the plate made such a tall order feel effortless”, says Jay when discussing the video.

“She’s a stone cold pro and I’m grateful to have finally gotten to work with her. We’ve been following each other for years but never really had the chance to collaborate until now. It was definitely worth the wait and definitely not the last time”, says Lazer Viking speaking on the visual.

We love Lazer Viking‘s soundscape and the universe that he is creating and have added Yr Body to our New Music Spotlight playlist!
