Jodi Heights delivers cerebral activism on new single, The Iceberg

We have been obsessed with Jodi Heights‘ fierce and moving release, White Knight which we featured recently, so we were thrilled to hear that she just released a new single, The Iceberg!

Kicking off with rippling keys and Jodi’s evocative vocal prowess, The Iceberg opens with the powerful and conceptual lyrics, “there was once a time when humans ruled the world, see here’s a display of their remains…”

In line with Jodi’s cerebral vision with her art, The Iceberg is a song created to address climate change, with a dark twist. It tells the story of an instructor on an alien planet who is teaching students about extinct species, humans!

The song builds with references to unsustainable consumption and capitalism, as Jodi Heights evokes an emotion with her alternate reality. “Here’s the story of their own demise…”, sings the Boston-based visionary.

With wisdom Jodi questions how we can avoid these mistakes, to bring to the forefront the artist’s message of love, peace and awareness. Speaking on the release, Jodi Heights says:

“Taking on a subject as charged as climate change is a bit daunting. When writing about current issues, it’s so easy for the lyrics to become preachy or angry, so I opted to tell a story instead. Rather than an argument for change, the resulting song explores what would happen if humans didn’t do anything to fix the damage they had caused to Earth. What if their story was already over?

The optimistic artist hopes that it isn’t too late with this intelligent commentary on the state of play. We have added The Iceberg to our New Music Spotlight playlist, along with White `Knight and have been streaming Jodi’s wider discography!
