We featured Jack Tracy last month for their single and uncensored video, It’s Time, today the rising artist is back with his new single, Close.
Setting the tone with almost Janet Jackson-esque drums and giving us a mid-tempo smooth-pop bop energy, Jack gets vulnerable on the new single, discussing “a relationship that was held together through sex”.
The narrative of the song tells the story of love lost, and former proximity with someone which has now changed over time, reminiscing on a former relationship held together by sexual chemistry. We are to expect a controversial music video to follow.
“This is my favourite song I’ve ever done,” says Jack Tracy speaking from his New York home about the new single. “For me, this song harkens back to the R&B mid-tempo chart toppers of the 90s.”
The song has proven to be his most popular in his live performances, je says “I’ve been previewing this song for months in my shows because I’ve just been so excited to release it. Of everything in my set list, this is the one people reach out to me about the most, asking me if it’s available.”
When discussing the video, Jack says it will be sexy, but will also “deal with some very heavy mental health and relationship issues”.
We can’t wait to experience it and have been immersing ourselves in Jack’s wider discography including Daddy Made It and his Aaliyah cover of If Your Girl Only Knew. Close has also been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist.
