Pianist and aerospace engineer Leonardo Barilaro, who is also known as Leonardo The Space Pianist has just unveiled his latest composition to the world, Not 63 days without a note.
Not 63 days without a note is an emotive and inspired piece with political views on peace and war. It is moody and yet optimistic designed featuring piano and synth with low and cerebral percussive frequencies.
The track takes us on an emotive adventure, coming in at just under three minutes, it starts light and astral setting a tone as the melody descends before playfully entering a more psychedelic frequency. Urgency is built with the synths and repeated keys juxtaposed with the textures and frequencies. Arpeggiated piano adds a sense of classical mysticism before the track builds in pace and adventure. Tension grows as the name of the artist comes to mind sending us truly into space. Emotive drama is realised until the track fades out to nothing, before we press repeat. Bravo.
Speaking on the track, Leonardo references what is taking place in Ukraine and says, “There are tragedies touching us more than others, or because we have family and friends involved or due to geographic location and links with history. What never changes is the straight fact that people are dying. And that others make a profit feeding the smokescreen of ignorance.”
This reflection in music about the situation in Ukraine is part of the yearlong journey with his project “Space Piano Music Everyday”.
The artwork of the single features Ukrainian dancer and model Victoria Kryukova. The concept of the photo, created by Nadya Ozdemir, perfectly represents the overwhelming feeling of these days in 2022.
The video clip is simple, with Leonardo the Space Pianist playing the piano and the synth in a very dark environment, with a very weak blue source of light.
The Space Pianist, who hopes one day to perform on Mars, releases a new single every day on streaming platforms, so make sure to stay tuned for more. The inspiration for this venture originates from his mantra, Nullo Die Sine Nota – Not a day without a note.
