We have been immersing ourselves in the work of C.M. Jenkins and are excited by today’s release of “A Waltz For No Ordinary Night”. The pianist takes us on an intricate and creative journey. Not sticking to classical formats, the experimenting artist has created a narrative driven experience for us.
Speaking on the track directly, C.M. Jenkins says, “A Waltz For No Ordinary Night was written in the winter of 2019, and started with the slow, daunting chords. The piece then evolved into a waltz, where I imagined dancers in a ballroom dancing to the rhythmic tempo. The piece was also inspired by the romantic but haunting feeling I get when listening to Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata.
Now when we listen to the track, we will forever have that visual in our minds, simultaneously bending through space and time with Beethoven reference Washington, DC based artist’s finger work is luxurious and cohesive.
Christopher’s debut album “First Movements Along A Curve” was recorded and mixed by Jeff Gruber at Blue House Productions in Silver Spring, Maryland. The music was mastered by Jackson Wargo (of the band Snowball II). It is available on CD for now and on streaming platforms this year!
