Mexico-based singer, songwriter and producer, Fer Guinea (also known as Fernanda Guinea), has just released Awaken, her first digitally produced EP.
As the EP opens with the title track, we are met with waves of electronica piercing the soul. The conscious artist’s vocal textures are introduced, fusing eloquently with the pulsing waves. Conscious lyricism flows from Fer Guinea, cohesive with the neo-soul, sophisti-pop vibe that she is part of the artist’s DNA.
A 22.2.22 release days demonstrates the artist’s conviction and connection with numerology and amplify conscious art is where we have connected.
The EP as a whole is really cohesive, there are no standout tracks, rather, the entire EP is standout, mature and refined. We love the journey from the intro, through to Head Up, which is empowering, followed by the introspective Deep Down, Moment In Time which brings us to the present, Tryna Get Some which has already been released and really does satisfy hedonist cravings. Closing the EP is High which lends itself to a sense of euphoria, almost going full circle with the lyricism from Head Up.
Speaking on the record, Fer Guinea says, “All the songs in Awaken were inspired by a spiritual awakening, a touch of psychedelics and the beauty of nature”. She cites Sade, Erykah Badu and Jamiroquai as some of her influences.
