It’s been about seven years since Viktor & Rolf released the original Spicebomb with a pretty incredible campaign featuring Sean O’Pry by Inez & Vinoodh. I remember testing out the fragrance and buying it a few times, I was then gifted it again last year by L’Oreal, I guess they know my taste well because yesterday the latest iteration of Spicebomb, Night Vision turned up at my doorstep.
So I’ve been wearing the fragrance for two days and can report back that it’s definitely an earthier experience than the original scent. The iconic grenade shaped bottle is tinged green this time for Night Vision matching up to its notes of fougère wood but also replicating the cultural impressions of night vision mode. Notes also include green cardamom, green mandarin and a Granny Smith accord generating an element of freshness. Middle and base notes include sage (I stan), rosemary, lavandin, cedar wood and patchouli, the black spice complex which comes through as the signature of the scent is comprised of black chilli, black pepper, clove and nutmeg. The sweetness from this iteration is subtle with some tonka bean.
Overall the experience is a natural evolution from the original, which I still love, but Night Vision delivers a sensual and moody experience with an urban edge.
