Last month at the Scottish Fashion Awards, Vivienne Westwood took to the stage to accept her lifetime achievement award and chose to instil her wisdom and views on fracking with the industry audience. The admiration that I have for Westwood standing by and bringing her beliefs to the forefront as a visionary is unparalleled.
One of London’s hottest club nights, Handsome, is partnering with Vivienne Westwood and her cause to raise awareness and protest against fracking – the controversial gas extraction process which could have countless health and environmental effects. All profits from the event will be donated to Humanade (www.humanade.org).
‘Fracking Hell’ is a one-night only event, hosted by London style icon Princess Julia, which will see the doyenne of protest fashion – Vivienne Westwood – discuss her campaigning both on and off the catwalk. In the spirit of the designer’s eco-fashion stance, a ‘Trashion Show’ from East London’s alternative drag scene will also take place, showcasing sustainable creations made entirely from recycled materials – watched by a judging panel including Lucien Freud’s muse Sue Tilley, Daniel Lismore and designers Basso & Brooke, Jean-Pierre Braganza and Lee Benjamin.
It takes place on October 4th from 21.00-06.00 at iCan Studios in East London.
