Last night I was fortunate enough to be invited to the premiere for Madonna (now lovingly known as M.D.N.A. since the announcement of her new album title just 24 hours ago)’s W.E.. If you are a fan of pop culture, artistic vision, creativity, beauty as a concept, stunning cinematography, a great soundtrack and a decent enough story arch – then W.E. is a film for you. Disclaimer: Yes I think that Madonna is incredible, but this is not a gushing Madonna post.
I was more than pleasantly surprised. Typically not a fan of royal dramas, I wasn’t expecting to be so engrossed and mesmerised by the awe inspiring beauty that W.E. had to offer. Critic reviews of the film have been (and will be) poor. Unfortunately this goes hand-in-hand with the fact that they (a) thrive on negativity and (b) loathe creative celebrities that try to express themselves via new art forms. I guarantee you that if Madonna wasn’t a name attached to this film, reviews would be at least two to three stars higher on average. Go and see it and make a call on it yourself.
